Contentful's Dashboard Overview

Contentful's Dashboard is the central hub for managing your content. From here, you can access all content templates used to create articles and pages, as well as add new categories, navigation filters, and search filters. The following is a review of it's key features and screens.

You will primarily work in the Content and Media tab views, located in the upper right of the screen. The example below shows the Content tab selected.

The Media tab contains all media assets—such as audio, video files, PDFs, and images—used throughout your content.

You’ll use the Content tab most often when building articles. It lets you find and edit existing articles and pages, or create a new article with its associated pages.

The Content tab contains several preset folders, which you can see in the Views panel in the lower-left corner of the screen.

Each folder is a filtered view of the content stored in Contentful and used in the application. These folders make it easier to find, create, or edit articles and pages, add new categories, and manage search filters.

Most of your initial work will take place in the Articles – The Story and Article Pages folders as you build new articles.

As the application grows, your administrator will create additional Articles folders for each category in the application.

These folder views are already set up for you and typically won’t require any changes.

Here is a list of what each folder’s view allows you to access:
